Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai are reportedly livid with the way Jurgen Klopp’s exit from Anfield has been managed by the club’s board.
Sources have revealed that the duo feels misled by the Reds.
It was back in January when Klopp announced his decision to step down from his role as Liverpool manager in the summer, a move that several sources had previously disclosed he was seriously considering as early as August.
Contrary to earlier reports, sources have indicated that senior players at Anfield did have some awareness of Klopp’s contemplation of leaving the club. These discussions reportedly took place informally during the team’s pre-season tour in Singapore.
However, newer signings like Nunez and Szoboszlai, who joined on long-term contracts in 2022 and 2023 respectively, were not part of these discussions. According to sources, both players were extremely angered by the sudden announcement.
Furthermore, it is believed that Ryan Gravenberch is also discontent with the recent developments.
While the impending departure of Klopp has left these players feeling unsettled, the Liverpool board’s handling of the situation isn’t expected to significantly affect their long-term prospects with the club.
Immediate departures are not on the horizon
Nunez and Szoboszlai currently have no intentions of engaging with their agents to reassess their positions at Liverpool, especially with no clear successor to Klopp identified.
Despite this uncertainty, both players are content to remain with the club for the time being.
Undoubtedly, Klopp played a significant role in attracting both Nunez and Szoboszlai to Liverpool, and without him, their future at Anfield has become somewhat less assured.
Throughout their tenure, both Nunez and Szoboszlai have endeared themselves to the Anfield faithful, playing pivotal roles as Klopp aims to conclude his tenure with a triumphant haul including a Premier League, Europa League, and Carabao Cup treble.
